Sometimes it takes a picture to bring a concept home. When I see even these small images of Chris Jordan’s photos, they give me a perspective that reading text alone is difficult to imagine. 
Please take a look. The artist uses objects against landscapes, or piles of found objects, and statistics in his compositions. He brings to life ghosts of the past, present and future. The titles of his projects are: Running the Numbers: an American Self-Portrait, Intolerable Beauty: Portraits of American Mass Consumption, In Katrina’s Wake: Portraits of Loss from an Unnatural Disaster.

The National Audubon Society and the American Bird Conservancy jointly released a watch list identifying 59 species in the continental United States that are on a “red list” of greatest concern and 119 more that are either seriously declining or rare.
